If you are considering booking this hotel, just do yourself a favor and commit. I am wiring this review the evening before our last night as my service to my fellow travelers. Absolutely perfect and ideal spot to vacation. Here are the things that mattered and a few extra things that are extremely important to people who care about the right things (like free breakfast and good tacos nearby) -we booked on points and I am convinced this is the best Marriott point redemption opportunity in the Caribbean (there are some others in this price point that are all inclusive but never trust an all inclusive) -the stay included a free and declicious breakfast with a full complimentary menu -small gym but enough for Gemini to come up with a few good workouts -the property only has a dozen rooms… so you don’t need to go to the beach at 7am to claim your spot… their photos also don’t make it clear that they have their own private beach with a bunch of free cabanas… so you don’t have to pay crazy amounts like in other places -the food and drinks are all excellent and staff amazing -nearby food also amazing. Michelin star restaurant right next door but also $3 taco stand a few minutes away for people who leave a fancy Michelin star restaurant still hungry but have wives who insist on going -adults only / very relaxing vibe… we walked up the beach to another restaurant for lunch that was a very different vibe… made us appreciate this place more I had to come up with one piece of feedback, so the only thing I could think of is that the hot water ran out one evening around 6pm when all of the rooms were getting ready for dinner… so shower was lukewarm… Book it and enjoy!

Lovely and peaceful experience here! Stayed as a couple in the Casa Laha garden apartment which has the nice advantage of a totally separate bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen. We were just there for one night so didn't use it, but that might be a great perk depending on your travel style and dietary needs. The bed was very comfortable, a nice firm memory foam mattress, and it was quiet and peaceful at night with multiple mini-splits keeping the space cool. The property is extremely beautiful; we spent a lot of time by the pool and at the beach where there are plenty of comfortable shaded lounge chairs and beds. It's tempting to stay by the water but don't miss the roof which has amazing views over the jungle. Nü was closed sadly but we ate in the hotel restaurant and had some surprisingly solid Japanese food. The team were lovely and communicative and made us feel well looked after. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a quiet, low-key experience in Tulum!

Me and my husband stayed at Xela hotel for part of our honeymoon in July and we loved our stay! Immediately upon arrival we greeted with a warm welcome and felt a sense of calm by gorgeous design and the atmosphere of the hotel. The staff is very friendly and serviceminded in a genuin way. The staff told us to feel like home, and we truly did. The hotel only have 12 rooms, which contributed to the exclusive feeling of home and almost have this stunning hotel for your self. The hotel is located in a perfect spot in Tulum beach. It is a quiet and peaceful area, but only a short walk to top restaurants, nightlife and boutiques. During our stay we tried all recommended restaurants in the area, and the restaurant NÜ (across the street) was absoluty the best. We went there several times. Would love to come back again!

I can’t say enough about our recent stay at Xela Tulum. We stay all over the world and rarely am I this impressed with the quality of service and the commitment of the staff. Jonathan, Emily, and Oscar were just a few of the wonderful people who went above and beyond to ensure that we had an amazing time. They spoiled us! The property is perfectly laid out with just 12 rooms. Quiet and relaxing we watched sunrises each morning from our room and beautiful sunsets from the hotel roof. Whether it was breakfast on the patio or lunch on the beach the food was always delicious. Kudos to the Chef and the fresh options offered each day. We can’t wait to return.

Xela Tulum is a breathtaking sanctuary that perfectly captures the serene, bohemian spirit of the Mayan Riviera. This intimate boutique hotel feels more like a sophisticated private villa than a traditional resort, offering a soulful atmosphere where every detail—from the earthy Oaxacan pottery to the sun-drenched lounge spaces—invites true relaxation. The experience is defined by an incredible sense of privacy and warmth, highlighted by a rooftop terrace that offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of the Caribbean sea and the lush jungle canopy. Whether you are enjoying a quiet breakfast by the waves or taking in the sunset from the highest point on the beach, the personalized service and minimalist design create an unforgettable stay that feels both luxurious and deeply grounded in its natural surroundings.

The only problem with Xela Tulum is that you’ll never want to leave! My partner and I just finished a getaway here, and it is truly the gold standard for luxury beachfront boutique stays. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. We were greeted with fresh passionfruit juice (our specific request!) and a lobby view that frames the ocean like a literal work of art. Because it’s an intimate boutique property, it feels more like a private villa than a hotel—it was never crowded and felt incredibly personal. Highlights of our stay: • The Room: Overlooking the ocean, we fell asleep to the sound of waves and enjoyed sunrise coffee and breakfast on our private balcony. • The Vibe: Located on the south side of Tulum, it’s a tranquil escape from the "party" scene. • The Staff: The entire team was so kind, but a huge shoutout to Emily, who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. • Dining & Amenities: We didn't leave the property once! The sushi and standard menus are excellent. We loved ending our nights with wine in the lobby lounge, and the rooftop views—overlooking the ocean to the east and the jungle to the west—are spectacular. It was so convenient to enjoy high-end dining right on-site without cutting our beach day short for reservations. We are already planning our return for a longer stay!

Our stay at Xela Tulum was nothing short of extraordinary. Every detail felt intentional, warm, and genuinely five star. The service was flawless without ever feeling formal or forced. The team is incredibly kind, thoughtful, and present. You can feel that they truly care about each guest’s experience. The food was outstanding at every meal. Fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Each dish felt crafted with pride and love, not just assembled. Dining here became one of the highlights of our trip. What we will never forget most is the sunrise over the ocean. The shimmer of the sun on the water was unlike anything we have ever seen. Absolutely breathtaking. There is something very special about this place. It feels untouched, undeveloped, and raw in the most beautiful way. Peaceful, pure, and deeply grounding. Even the smallest touches stood out. On the morning of our departure, the staff had prepared breakfast boxes for us the night before so we would not miss a meal on the way out. That level of thoughtfulness goes far beyond traditional hospitality. Xela Tulum is not just a hotel. It is an experience. We left grateful, restored, and already planning our return. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beautiful property with the friendliest and most attentive staff . They go out of your way to make your stay memorable, even remembering your name and little details. We were there for a wedding so we had the entire resort to ourselves. It really felt like home. We stayed in the Caracol suite and loved it for the convenience of being right on the beach and easy access in and out of the room ! Super comfy beds and the food was delicious ! They cleaned the seaweed on the beach meticulously every morning. Walking distance to the top restaurants but far enough for peace and quiet. Really couldn’t be happier with our experience . Thank you Xela !
